Chattanooga, Tenn. (March 7, 2018) – Luken Communications, LLC announced the addition of two new series to Retro TV’s programming lineup today. Joining The Best in Classic Television during the second quarter will be comedic dramas Republic of Doyle and The Indian Doctor.

Set against the stunningly rugged background of Newfoundland, Republic of Doyle is created by and stars Allan Hawco (ZOS: Zone of Separation, Trojan Horse) as the roguish and irreverent P.I. Jake Doyle, alongside award-winning actor Sean McGinley (Richard Attenborough’s Closing The Ring, Bleak House) as his father and business partner Malachy. Together they run the Doyle P.I. agency in the delightful setting of their hometown, St. John’s, which is quickly becoming less of a small seaport and more of a booming oil town.  Republic of Doyle also stars Lynda Boyd (The L Word), Rachel Wilson (75 El Camino), Krystin Pellerin (The Tudors) and Marthe Bernard (Young Triffie). The series boasts a robust roster of guest stars including Oscar-winner Russell Crowe (Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind) and Victor Garber (Alias, Argo).

Period British television drama The Indian Doctor takes place in the sleepy Welsh mining village of Trefelin during the 1960s. When the village’s local doctor dies, his replacement isn’t quite what people expect – Prem Sharma, played by Sanjev Bhaskar (Absolutely Anything, The Kumars), is the Indian doctor who arrives to the shock of the locals. Prem’s regal wife Kamini, played by Ayesha Darker (Star Wars: Episode II, Outsourced), isn’t particularly pleased either and is eager to move to London.

Joel Wertman, President of Luken Communications, said, “Everyone at Retro TV is thrilled with our new programming options.  Both of these critically-acclaimed series are authentic and engaging with well-crafted storylines.  The series will perfectly complement Retro TV’s current schedule.”

Republic of Doyle is set to air weekdays at 8:00 p.m. Eastern/Pacific beginning March 26.  The Indian Doctor will run Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. Eastern/Pacific with an encore on Sundays at 9:00 p.m. Eastern/Pacific starting on March 31.

With an assortment of vintage comedies like The Lucy Show and The Joey Bishop Show as well as classic dramas including Doctor Who, One Step Beyond, The Doctors, Route 66, and Bonanza, Retro TV offers The Best in Classic Television.
